Three Essential Make Up Tips: Eyeliner

Whether you’re looking to create an enhanced, theatrical Cleopatra-style look, or just something more simple for daytime wear, eyeliner is one of the beauty staples. Here’s a quick guide to getting the most out of this essential product.

Tip One: Liquid or Pencil

Most make up brands manufacturer eyeliner in two different genres; liquid or pencil. It’s worth having one of each, in a trusty black colour, in your make up kit. The type of look you are going for influences which of the two types of eyeliner you should select; for something dramatic, use liquid, while for a more conservative look, pencil is your friend. Alternatively, you can use both: use pencil on the inner edge of the eye for more definition, and liquid on the outside of the eyelid to give a sweeping curve.

Tip Two: Practice, Practice, Practice

Eyeliner is extremely tricky to apply. It requires a steady hand, a good mirror in a well-lit room so you can see exactly what you’re doing, and lots and lots of practice. Over time, you’ll be able to draw beautiful lines over and under your eyelids in seconds, but put the ground work in first. Practice until you can create an unbroken and even line in both pencil and liquid.;

Tip Three: Let Eyeliner Dry

This is such a basic principle but it’s also a common mistake. Whether or not the eyeliner you are using is pencil or liquid, it’s important to let it dry before applying mascara. This takes around two minutes; a very short space of time that will help you avoid the dreaded smudging and ‘panda eyes’ effect.

    Practice and patience is definitely key! Especially with liquid eyeliner. When I first started using it, I’d always end up making one eye much thicker than the other. When I tried to thicken the second eye to match, it would come out even thicker than the first. Talk about vicious cycles. And in the end, after all my hard work, it’d all get smudged anyway, because I never let it dry, either. How long did it take you guys to master this stuff?

    I prefer the pencil kind. And I find it much easier to let my mom do it for me than trying to do it myself in front of the mirror. Something about hand-eye coordination makes me screw up every single time!

    I would choose liquid and pencil over gel liner. Really have more stability with the application with these products more so. When comes to liquid gel more so have to structure it a little more to achieve your desired look. My personal view is less time consuming and messy choosing the other route. But give them each a try see what works for you best! DO FOLLOW link to http://www.easymakeuptutorial.com/how-to-avoid-the-pitfalls-of-buying-make-up-online

    I prefer pencil and gel liner over liquid. I find It easier to control, although I prefer the smooth texture from liquid liners. I’m not a pro at eyeliner but I agree with you, practice makes perfect.

    thank you for the useful tips! Frankly speaking, one of the main problem in applying eyeliner is the difficulty in getting both left and right eyeliner balanced. I’ve always loved gel eyeliner as it’s so much easier to draw.

    These tips are quite good for somone who wants to use eyeliner. To be honest I have never had any desire to wear it. Mainly because it seem so difficult to master in applying. These tips do help to simplify the process somewhat.

    These are some good tips. Some of my girlfriends go over board with the eyeliner and create that raccoon look. Sometimes it’s funny. I’m going to pass these tips along, hopefully they will help a lot.

    The Eyeliner is a tricky technique to perform and as the article stated above, it requires a steady hand and to be clam so you can get the best result. the article doesn’t fail though at explaining it very clearly and gives the important tools for anyone to have a go at it and develop their make up skills.
