The Importance of Make Up Brushes

In a perfect world, we’d all be able to afford a make up artist to come to our home and make us look flawless every day – but unfortunately, this isn’t a perfect world. Learning to apply your own make up to give you the best face possible is a big part of growing up, and everyone loves insider tips and tricks on how to get the perfect look.

There are many things that can make the difference in make up application – the quality of products, matching your skin tone and complexion to the shades you use, enhancing your best assets – but few things are as important as the tools you work with. Using the correct make up brushes for the correct products can be the finishing touch you need when it comes to creating a flawless finish; after all, the products you buy can only be as good as the tools you apply them with.

Most make up products and cosmetics come with their own applicators, such as small pads in eyeshadows or sponge materials with face powder. However, these applicators are less than ideal for applying make up due to their small size (they are usually sized so they fit within the palette) and poor quality creation.

Investing in a separate set of make up brushes will make a huge difference to the overall appearance of make up you wear. You can find full sets of face and eye brushes for as little as $10, or up to $50 for a deluxe kit. Give them a go, and see the difference they make for yourself.

I could not live without my brushes!
But I must admit I like applying my foundation and primer with my hands, I find the application much easier. But when applying powder products, brushes are the way to go! I love Ecotools, they’re amazing!

Do you have a good website/s to go to and buy good makeup brushes? I think the more brushes you have the better. Some of the brushes in the department stores are junk.

Very helpful advice! I use make up brushes every day, and just like this article said, I have found that the applicators that usually come with makeup don’t do the job, so I’ve bought a full set of 24 make up brushes and have never been happier with the look of my makeup.

Exactly. A lot of people think that 24 brushes is too much, but for me it’s the right amount. You can never have too many make-up brushes, haha. Beauty blenders are a godsend too, though.

Way helpful advice right here. I’ve personally learn that them brushes that come in the compacts aren’t really large enough to apply the right amount of product. As well advice you buy some specific brushes for the application of eye shadow, blush, eyeliner, foundation ect. In the long run will turn out more lasting and looking much more put together. Give it a try and see.. my word you’ll be more pleased!

Great article, I always have a difficult time finding the correct way to apply face makeup. I have found angled eye shadow brushes along with flat type eye shadow brushes are best for eyes, and if you don;t have access to these, use your fingers rather than the little thing that comes in the cases… they never seem to work. I’m always interested in learning the best application brush for foundation.

Just like Erin I usually use my hands even though I have a set of brushes. I’m just not used to putting or using anything else on my face other than my newly washed hands. It must be from disciplining myself as a teenager cause growing up I had such a bad acne problem on my face and when I found that it had to do with dirt, I just couldn’t let anything on my face anymore.

Before reading this article I applied my makeup using my hands in a motion similar to washing my face. I never saw much need for brushes after reading this I will be investing in a decent makeup brush set.

I was the same way until I started watching tutorials on how to apply make-up to achieve a certain look. I noticed those with a wide variety of brushes and applicators had the best results. Since then I’ve noticed a real difference when I use the right brush.

Makeup brushes are something I tend to use with each application. They save you from getting makeup on your hands so that you don’t get it all over you. They also, help with making sure each application gets blended in properly.

Wow. I never realized that the size of the brushes were just made to fit in the compact. I always just assumed they were the right side. I’ll have to try some bigger brushes.
